SC 160 begins at US 521, nearly 5 miles (8.0 km) east of Fort Mill, 5 miles (8.0 km) south of the NC-SC border, and 4 miles (6.4 km) west of Marvin. The road is christened as John D Patterson Memorial Highway, from there, it is nearly a one-mile (1.6 km) drive to the North Carolina-South Carolina border. SC 160 continues on as NC 160. Quickly, SC 160 was established as a suburban road, as it runs through the outskirts of Fort Mill. About 5 miles (8.0 km) after US 521, SC 160 enters the heart of downtown Fort Mill. It merges north with US 21 Business for about three-quarters of a mile before the two split off. A few more blocks later and SC 160 crosses over US 21. Shortly after that, SC 160 crosses over I-77. It is a three-mile (5 km) drive to Gold Hill RD from I-77. Gold Hill RD is shown in some maps as SC 160.
The entire route is in York County.
